News & Notes Vol 13 No. 26

Adieu… loosely translated “to God”

Dear friends,
…for so I have begun to call so many of you over these last 12 years. Summer is finally arriving for so many of us.

  • Under Tammy Klassen and her able team SERVE begins next week in Brandon, MB.
  • Rob Ogilvie, our new Executive Minister has been overlapping as he takes on that role on July 1.
  • Larry Schram begins a new season with his wife Erna as BCY Regional Minister on September 1.
  • Camps are filling up if not finding sections with waiting lists. It is a very exciting time and we pray that many will come to know Christ for the very first time and commit to a meaningful church community experience when they get home.
  • Residential camps are 1 thing but there are thousands of volunteers, leaders, and children that are part of daily Vacation Bible Schools, summer day camps, and all sorts of exciting summer adventures. Please pray for this season as well.
  • When we come together at The Gathering we express ourselves as a family of churches. Kayely Rich is our new President, and for this next 2 years our leader, who along with Rob and staff will celebrate God’s presence, wonder, and activity in our midst. Please pray for her in this role.

One of the things I’ve greatly enjoyed has been interacting with you through my weekly newsletter, of which this is the last one. Thank you for this season of enjoying each other’s company in these 12 years of weekly jottings. I have been thankful for the opportunity to share. I anticipate creating a personal blog which will unfold later in the Fall.
There are 3 people I would like to thank:

  • Jill Schuler for her creative work and great, good patience. Jill exercises both with all of us far more than you will ever know.
  • Shelby Gregg who for 8 years has been mentor, administrator, creative director, and promoter of welcome to many of you and to me, to whom I have a great personal debt.
  • Third, I would like to thank my wife Kerry for encouraging me in this season and for her love and care that has been very much the fabric of life and in whose company I shall be hiking in Ireland around this time next week.

I leave you with this. The root of obedience is “obed” (to listen). May we all be attentive in listening. May you see many come to faith and deeply nurtured in our churches. I recall just over 12 years ago (and 624 newsletters ago) that I promised the Lord and you that we would look together for God’s stories amongst us; that we would celebrate his faithfulness, and continue to wait upon the living God finding his glory and presence in everyday life this day and always. May we all be attentive with great anticipation of what he will do.

Adieu… literally translated “to God”… “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9

Grateful… Thankful…
In Christ,
Jeremy Bell
