Now is the time to register for the CBWC’s annual Banff Pastors and Spouses Conference, which will take place November 3-6, 2014 at the Banff Springs Hotel.
Early bird registration is due by August 31. Final registration is due October 20.
This year our theme is: Journey Outward and Journey Inward: Spiritual Disciplines in our World.
The theme verse is Psalm 115:1:
Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.
Our keynote speakers are:
Dr. Harry G. Gardner, President of Acadia Divinity College, who will speak on Spiritual Formation.
Rev. David Wells, General Superintendent of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, will speak on evangelism.
Loralyn Lind, Senior Pastor of First Baptist, Dauphin, MB will lead morning Bible studies.
Jason and Katie Leussink, a musical team from Peace River, AB will be our worship leaders.
Leland Klassen, Christian comedian, will perform on November 3.
Dr. Harry G. Gardner has his MDiv from Acadia and his DMin from Fuller Theological Seminary. He has served as a pastor in several churches in eastern Canada. In 1986 he began work with the Home Mission Board of the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches and in 1989 he became the Director of Home Missions and Church Planting. He served for 11 years as the Convention’s Executive Minister prior to becoming President of Acadia Divinity College and Dean of Theology in 2008. Recently, he served as the President of the North American Baptist Fellowship and in 2010 he was elected as a Vice President of the Baptist World Alliance. He sits in the Abner J. Langley and Harold L. Mitton Chair of Church Leadership and teaches in the area of pastoral ministry, leadership and spiritual disciplines.
Rev. David Wells, General Superintendent of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada since May 2008, has had a long career as pastor in many locations across Canada. He has served as a chaplain for the Olympic games since 2004 and chaired the multi-faith committee that organized chaplaincy services for Vancouver’s 2010 Winter Olympic Games. He currently serves on the executive board of More than Gold 2015 to coordinate the Christian community for service at the Pan Am Games in Greater Toronto. He also serves on the executives of the Pentecostal World Fellowship, the World Assemblies of God Fellowship and the Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches of North America. He has served on the board of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and was a member of the board of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada from 1999-2013 and was chair of the board from 2007-2013. The PAOC has more than 1,100 churches across Canada.
Leland Klassen, Canada’s top Christian stand-up comedian who is known for his clean—and very funny – comedy routines will be entertaining us on Monday, November 3 at 7 pm! Klassen is known for keeping his act fun without resorting to obscenity and sexuality for his humour. His brand of clean yet hilarious physical comedy combined with an endearing charm and clever observations about life make his show unique. Don’t miss his show!
