Catherine Dorothy Farr

flower2With great sadness, we announce the passing of Catherine Dorothy Farr, who went to be with God on January 20, 2016.  She is reunited with her beloved husband Jack and other family  members who made the journey before her.
Catherine spent a lifetime in service to her Lord. As the wife and partner of a Baptist minister, Catherine and her husband Jack led congregations in Mt. Brydges Ontario, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and Victoria.
She was sleeping peacefully when she left to meet God, relieved from years filled with immense and constant physical pain due to cancer and other health issues.  She was predeceased by her wonderful husband Jack of Ladysmith BC and her younger brother Doug Baker (Harriet) of Greenville South Carolina.  She is survived by her older brother Ken Baker (Doris) of Oakville Ontario, her children Ted Farr (Terrie) of West Kelowna BC, Frances Schneidmiller (Merv) of Mill Bay BC, Doug Farr of Victoria BC, Shirley Farr of Calgary AB and Cathy Kokot (Cal) of Calgary AB.  She has five grandchildren: Jonathan Farr (deceased), Natalie Murphy (Rob), Megan Schneidmiller, Nathan Schneidmiller and Jarrod Kokot. She also has one great grandson, Jonathan Murphy.
Catherine was born in Brantford Ontario where she graduated high school, met Jack and married him after he returned from duty in World War II. She was an intelligent, vibrant, stylish and colourful personality.  Family members fondly recall that she was not wallflower. She was never without lipstick. Even as she lay in her hospital bed, given a choice between lip moisturizer and lipstick, she chose lipstick every time.  Catherine and music walked hand in hand throughout her life.  Her homes always had a piano, often an organ too.  She played and sang all the time, trios, quartets, choirs, sing-alongs and whenever the church needed an organist or piano music.  When she moved into a care facility last year, the one thing that went with her was a piano.  Music was her solace.
Catherine will be laid to rest in Chemainus BC next to her beloved husband Jack.
Please pray for Catherine’s family and friends during this difficult time.
