Dr. Lance Morgan

yellow flowerIt is with deep sadness that we share with you the news that Rev. Dr. Lance Morgan has died on Friday, January 4. Lance was the Lead Pastor at First Baptist Church, Prince George for well over thirty years. Lance, along with his wife Pat, has had a profound ministry on the city of Prince George and our entire denomination.

Rev. Morgan was named Citizen of the Year in 1984, became a  Freeman of the city in 1988 and was named as the city’s honorary chaplain in 2001. He was also honoured by the CBWC  for holding the longest period of service by a pastor – 36 years.

Lance was born in Jamaica and arrived in Prince George 1962 with his wife Pat. Together they served in the Central Baptist Church congregation which became First Baptist Church. Under Morgan’s leadership, the church building was renewed and the congregation became united and  thrived until his 1998 retirement.

He was a founding director of the Project Friendship Society, an avid photographer and all-around bon vivant who was said to bring smiles wherever he went.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19th at 11:30 at First Baptist Church, Prince George.  (FBC is located at 483 Gillett St.)

Please be in prayer for Pat and the entire Morgan family, that they may know God’s peace even in the midst of this storm.
