October 17, 2013 — The CBWC was saddened to learn of the passing of Rev. Ernest Hanson who died on October 14, 2013.
Ernie was born November 11, 1928 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the youngest son of Olaf and Hilda Hanson.
Ernie had a long career as a much-loved pastor within the CBWC. Except for one year in Manitoba, his ministry with the CBWC was in Alberta. He served at Stettler Baptist Church, 1963-69 and then again from 1992-98. He served for 10 years as pastor of McLaurin Baptist Church in Grande Prairie from 1974-1984. He was at First Baptist in Dauphin, MB in 1991. After serving in Stettler for the second time, he served at First Baptist in Camrose from 1998 to 1999.
Outside the CBWC, he served as pastor of Vancouver Heights in Burnaby BC from 1969 to 1974 and of Bethel Baptist Church (General Conference) from 1985-91.
The memorial service will be at Stettler Funeral Home and Crematorium in Stettler on Monday, October 21 at 1:30 pm.
Please keep Ernest’s family and friends in your prayers as they mourn his loss. He leaves his loving wife Sara as well as his daughter Marilyn (Steve) Rigby of Edson, son Gordon (Terry) Hanson of Caronport, SK, son Donald (Tami Hanson of Stettler, step-daughter Terri Lynn (Terry) Humphries of Calgary and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
