We mourn the death of Jack Longhurst, who went to glory on Saturday, March 16 in Calgary at age 69.
Jack was born on August 5, 1943. Jack began his ministry in Listowel, Ont. After attending seminary in Boston, he came out west to Edmonton and served at Braemar Baptist with Doug Moffat. He left pastoral ministry to work with Canadian Baptist as a missionary to Indonesia for a number of years. After serving with CBM, he returned to Calgary, serving as the Senior Pastor at Sonrise Community Baptist Church.
Jack is survived by his much-loved and loving wife Ruth and his children Chad (Marnie), Heather (Jens), Joline (Rod), Rob, Mark & Sharene (Nathan) and his 11 grandchildren, Anya, Siri, Ava, Josiah, Maya, Anna, Abbey, Simeon, Micah, Bennett & Callia, as well as his brother, Don (Trudy) Longhurst.
Jack was a man of great integrity who was loved by many. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 2:00pm, at Crescent Heights Baptist, 1212 – 1st Street NW, Calgary. The graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 24th at 2:00pm, at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
