The CBWC was saddened to learn of the passing of Lorne Irwin on May 5, 2015 at the age of 90. Lorne was a much loved member of our CBWC family and had served in many of our churches in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Most recently, he was Pastor Emeritus at First Baptist Church in Calgary. Despite our loss, we rejoice that he is now home with God.
Lorne was born in La Verne CA on February 24, 1925, the youngest of 10 children. From the 1960’s to 1980’s, Ron served as pastor at many CBWC churches including Altadore Baptist and Bowness Baptist in Calgary, Crescent Heights Baptist in Edmonton, First Baptist in Moose Jaw, First Baptist in Red Deer, High River Baptist and First Baptist in Olds. He was married to Kathleen Irwin for 67 years, who survives him, and leaves behind five children, Lynda, Ron, Janet, Philip and Rebecca and their spouses as well as many grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist in Calgary on Friday, May 8 at 2 pm. Please remember Lorne’s family and friends in your prayers.
