July 22, 2014 – One of Canada’s top Christian comedians will be performing at Banff Pastors and Spouses Conference this year. Leland Klassen, a stand-up comedian known for his very funny comedy routines will be entertaining pastors and their spouses on the first evening of the conference, Monday, November 3. The Banff Pastors and Spouses Conference will be held November 3-6 at the Banff Springs Hotel in Banff.
Recognized as Canada’s premier Christian comedian, Leland Klassen decided early on that he would do his comedy without resorting to shock humour. His brand of hilarious physical comedy combined with an endearing charm and clever observations about life make his show unique.
Klassen has performed as at the prestigious Just for Laughs festival three times and had his own episode of the US comedy series Bananas. He has had two television series on the west coast and appeared as a guest on many television shows. In 2002, he received the BCAB 2002 Broadcast Performer of Tomorrow award for his TV work in Vancouver.
He became a favourite Christian entertainer when he realized he had been given a great platform to speak to audiences both on and offstage about his experiences and relationship with Christ. Whether he is sharing his testimony or weaving the Gospel through his hilarious act, Klassen has the ability to do so in a comfortable, non-threatening manner that is perfect for outreach events. He is never afraid to be a Christian in the comedy world.
The theme for this year’s Banff Pastors and Spouses Conference is based on Psalm 115:1:
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Thy name give glory.
We will gain insight into this text from two key perspectives. Dr. Harry Gardner, President of Acadia Divinity College, will lead evening sessions focused on spiritual formation. Each morning, David Wells, General Superintendent of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, will speak on evangelism. Morning Bible studies will be led by Loralyn Lind, Senior Pastor of First Baptist, Dauphin, MB.
Early bird registration for pastors and their spouses is August 31 and regular registration must be completed by October 20. Registration can be done online at www.cbwc.ca or by contacting Amber Baker at abaker@cbwc.ca.
