Dear friends,
The picture below is that of SERVE in High River, AB… A deeply encouraging and strong event for which many were very thankful. As in the last 3 years, the numbers for SERVE are creeping slowly higher and this year will exceed 300 participants. Youth and leaders from 26 churches across Western Canada are coming. The main leaders from the host church Emmanuel Baptist, Victoria, BC are Ingrid White and Margo Lisik. Also helping out is Susan Pike who now plans her holidays to be a part of SERVE every year as the “Lunch Lady.”
During the week SERVE participants will be working on a variety of sites. Examples include working with kids in a couple of the First Nations Bands, and working with the Mustard Seed, as well as community projects like yard work and helping with Vacation Bible School at the nearby Gateway Baptist Church.
Here is an idea of their schedule for the week:
Sunday – 5 PM arrive, 7 PM Dinner, worship and speaker.
Monday – 8 AM breakfast, 9-3 work sites, 3-5 free time, 5 PM supper, 7 PMworship and speaker

Prayer requests:
For Emmanuel Baptist as they prepare, recruit volunteers, and do all the “on the ground” work.
For Sid Koop as he prepares his messages for the evening sessions.
For each youth and youth leader who will be participating – for their health and for their hearts to be prepared to both serve and to be touched by what God wants to do in their lives.
Notes from the Family: Pray for all those changes in staff this summer in all our family of churches. Too many to mention here, but many whom will you come across through the next months. Please take time to encourage and pray for them.
Quote of the week: “I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.” Psalm 116:1
Warmly,
In Christ,
