It is often harder to remember to give thanks after an event than during one. I have chosen to write this Thanksgiving weekend letter after the fact by asking several folks in leadership to share a line or two of what they are thankful to God for.
Dawn Johannesson – Area Administrator for BC and Yukon
“I am thankful for a life of grace and being able to reflect upon God as He cares for me and watches over me.”
Jan Passuke – Alberta Area Moderator
I am thankful for the recognition that Womens Ministries through Women in Focus is becoming a significant part of the Baptist Union’s approach to meeting its goals for ministry. Some great things are happening in our churches through these ministries. We have gifted women in Faye Reynolds, Heather Thompson and the regional co-ordinators giving these ministries leadership. The creation of leadership development courses through the regions and Carey are exciting new possibilities for the women of our churches. Jan Paasuke (former President of Baptist Women)
Sam Chaise – BUWC Board Chair
I am thankful that we in the BUWC can live in the tension of biblical rootedness and cultural contextualization.”
Gary Nelson – General Secretary, CBM
I am grateful and thankful for the creativity and community impact of BUWC churches in their communities. From Fort Saskatchewan to Burnaby churches taking seriously the call to missional activity in the worlds that God has placed them
Ken Theissen – Heartland Area Minister
I’m thankful for the opportunity to be a part of a denomination that is not content with the status quo. We are blessed with a gifted group of denominational leaders who are calling us to more intentionally pursue new and creative ways to live out our three core values of Kingdom Growth, Leadership Development and Relief of Suffering and Poverty. God’s story is being written among us and as we tell the stories to each other, we are experiencing a celebration of God’s presence among us
In Great Thanksgiving to God
Warmly
In Christ
