Dear Folks,
This has been a difficult week for many in this family of churches and there are many things that are going on that require our attention, time, and prayers.
- Let me begin by expressing to one of my predecessors, Doug Moffat, our prayers, sorrow and support at the sudden and terrible loss of his wife Gayle this past Sunday in High River, Alberta. Doug and Gayle have served the CBWC in many places including Trinity Baptist Church, Vancouver, First Baptist Church, Calgary and in the executive offices in Calgary, where Gayle was the office manager. We give thanks for Gayle and her life and we remember their children. The funeral is planned for 2 pm on Saturday, March 10th at the High River Baptist Church, 119 5th Ave. SE, High River AB.
- Someone who may not be as familiar to some of you, but those of us who have been involved with Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship and the CBM Board, will be saddened to know that Elizabeth Cox passed away on March 2nd.
- In a rotation of Baptist leaders, Sam Chaise will be coordinating the gathering in Montréal on March 21st with folk from the French Baptist Union, the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec, the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada, the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches, the Baptist General Conference, the North American Baptists and the Canadian National Baptist Convention. While we have not experienced unanimity, please pray for unity.
- Please pray for the upcoming Celebration Dinners in Saskatchewan in early April.
- Please pray for all our preparations for Easter during this month and it’s never too late to join the Carey Hall online Lenten series (http://www.carey-edu.ca/institute/index.php/upcoming-events/109-lenten-online-devotional-series)
- Many from this denomination have been involved with Baptist World Alliance whose meetings along with the North American Baptist Fellowship are happening as we write this, through until Friday. Please pray for the BWA General Secretary, Neville Callam.
- Please continue to pray for Victor Ku as he is experiencing his first couple months in his role as the Director of Administration and Finance.
- I would like to give thanks for the many who carry and pray for one another in this family of churches, for the notes of encouragement and support for one another, and especially in this time of year when camps are making plans for the summer, that we would all remember them.
- Please remember the good work of A Rocha Canada and especially their commitment to the scriptures and creation care in Good Seed Sunday that is happening next month. (http://goodseedsunday.com/)
Warmly,
In Christ,
Jeremy
