Dear Folks,
Many thanks to all who have attended, helped, encouraged and been faithful in supporting the Banff Pastors and Spouses Conference over these many years.
Particularly, I would like the thank Liz Swab, David Holten, Bob Webber, and Shelby Gregg for organizing us last year. Thank you to Sam Chaise who will be leading our worship times together and to Tim Kerber who will be our conference host.
This year will be an incredible opportunity.
Carolyn Arends, a reflective, popular and wonderful musician, will perform on Monday night as we begin our time together.
Cal Malena, from FBC, Prince George, BC, will be our Bible Study Leader. Cal is well trusted and loved and he carries a phenomenally deep experience from the pastorate, the Canadian Baptist Ministries and our family of churches.
Myra Blyth, who teaches at Regent’s Park College, University of Oxford, England, will speak to us around the theme of worship. I first heard Myra at the Baptist World Alliance meetings in 2005 in Birmingham, England. More importantly, she is the co-editor of the British Baptist’s Order of Service book, Gather to Worship. Myra has also been a speaker at the annual assembly of the Baptist Churches of Ontario and Quebec.
Those are our speakers. Their themes will bring together personal and collective worship.
In the past, we have had a great deal of feedback on how the Banff Pastors and Spouses Conference is scheduled, especially the early morning hours. A great deal of attention is being applied to this concern as we planned our upcoming conference.
Another issue that has been raised was regarding the need to have practical, personal resources that impact a pastor’s life. At the moment, our preliminary list of topics for workshops during the conference include: Physical, Financial, Mental/Emotional, Reading/Prayer/Study, Health/Personal Reformation, Continuing Education, Coaching, Spiritual Formation, CEU’s (Continuing Education Units), and Prayer Walk. More information will be coming as we finalize our planning.
Warmly,
In Christ,
Jeremy
